Our 2nd DXpedition was to the island of Mull and Iona in 2005 and you can see a map of the islands below.
Again, 5 of us made the trip with a couple of changes to the team. This time Steve – G0MTD, Malcolm – M0XAT, Norman – M0CRM, Mark – 2E0MAX and Paul – M1PAF made the journey to the Scottish Isles. During our visit we experienced some of the worst propagation conditions in recent history as a result of a massive solar flare. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it resulted in us trying out antennas close to the sea shore to try and improve the situation. This was one of our greatest learning moments and has greatly influenced our approach to island operations.
